Description

Motion Identities is an intensive course led by THRU, designed for design and animation professionals looking to develop motion-based visual identities. Throughout the course, students will learn to conceptualize, develop, and animate dynamic brand identities through a process guided by industry experts. This program follows a hands-on approach, where each student will work on their own project based on a shared brief, developing a motion identity with individual tutoring sessions, receiving personalized feedback to refine their work.

Contents

The course is structured into five key stages, organized into one group session for theory + five individual tutoring sessions per student + one group session for final project presentations.

Fundamentals
-Introduction to motion identity.
-Exploring the creative workflow.
-Motion graphics vs. Motion design and why motion matters today.
-Motion identity vs. identity with animated assets.
-What is a motion behavior?

Concept & Strategy
-Selecting a brand as a working base.
-Defining the motion concept.
-Researching and collecting visual references.
-Workflow from idea → creative concept → motion execution → final piece.
-Examples of motion identities.
-Explanation of the minimum identity assets to be developed during the course.
-Goals for the next session.
-Recommended brands for selection.

Individual Tutoring Sessions
-Refining the concept with personalized feedback.
-Technical guidance to enhance execution.
-Developing assets and initial animation tests.

Production
-Improvements based on received feedback.
-Final animation and editing.
-Preparing the final project presentation.

Final Presentation & Group Critique
-Showcasing final projects in a group session.
-Constructive critique from instructors and peers.
-Reflection on the process and course wrap-up.

The course includes:
-1 group session for theory.
-5 individual tutoring sessions per student.
-1 final group session for project presentation.

Requirements

To join this course, you should have experience in design and animation. You’ll also need a computer capable of running animation software and prior knowledge of After Effects or completion of the "After Effects from Scratch" course by THRU. Additionally, you should be available for live sessions and practical work.

The course is taught by the team at THRU, a creative agency with expertise in design, animation, and branding. They have led over 50 projects, collaborating with international clients and helping to build animated identities in the digital world.
