Description

Motion is much more than knowing how to animate. It’s about understanding how movement can become part of an identity system. Motion Design Bundle combines the technical foundations of After Effects from Scratch with the professional application of Motion Identities, offering a complete journey through motion design. You’ll first learn how to work with After Effects and its essential animation tools, before applying those skills to the development of a motion identity, working across concept, behavior, system and execution with guidance from THRU. Two courses. One complete journey from tool to project.

The bundle is structured as two complementary stages: 01 — After Effects from Scratch You’ll learn the fundamentals of After Effects, from navigating the interface and working with keyframes and speed curves to shape and typography animation, effects, project organization and export workflows. The goal is to build a solid technical foundation that allows you to start designing and animating independently. 02 — Motion Identities You’ll apply those foundations to the development of a complete motion identity. Starting from a brief, you’ll work on concept, references, brand behavior and execution to build your own motion system. The process includes one theory session, five individual mentoring sessions and a final group presentation. By the end of the journey, you’ll have progressed from learning the tool to using it with intention within a complete identity project.

Requirements

No previous motion design experience is required to start the bundle. For After Effects from Scratch, you’ll need Adobe After Effects installed on your computer and a basic understanding of visual design. The first course will provide you with the foundation needed to move on to Motion Identities, where you’ll work more independently on the development of your own project. Previous experience in graphic design, branding or another visual discipline is recommended, as well as availability to attend the live sessions and work on exercises and your project between sessions.

Teaching Team

Both courses are taught by THRU, a creative studio specializing in motion design, animation and branding, with experience developing motion identities for international clients. After Effects from Scratch is led by David Galar, founder and Creative Director of THRU, while in Motion Identities, the team works individually with each participant throughout the development of their project, combining creative direction, critical feedback and technical execution.
