You’ve been living in New York for many years now. Looking back, what do you feel has changed the most in the way you work since you left Barcelona?

The world has changed a lot. Fifteen years ago in Barcelona, I was designing websites using InDesign. Back then I worked on small projects on my own, with very limited resources. Today at Decimal, as a creative director, I lead teams, look for collaborators, act as a project manager, and deal directly with clients. For me, it has been a natural evolution. Rather than designing myself, I now try to inspire the designers in the studio. That same spirit is what I hope to bring to the KIT course.

    Guillermo Brotons

I’m Guillermo Brotons, a creative director and designer focused on digital and interactive environments. I studied Graphic Design at Eina in Barcelona and later completed an MA in Graphic Design at the London College of Communication. I was also awarded a Fabrica Fellowship at Benetton’s communication research center in Treviso, Italy. I currently lead Decimal, a New York based design and technology studio inspired by numbers, systems, and attention to detail. From there, we develop projects that combine design, interactivity, and strategy, exploring how digital experiences can build strong and meaningful narratives. In my practice, I see prototyping as a fundamental tool to think, test, and present ideas. I approach digital design as a dynamic process where ideas, taste, and intuition remain at the center, beyond the tools. In my teaching, I aim to share this way of working and thinking. If you’d like, I can make a slightly sharper version with a more contemporary and less formal tone, closer to the current voice of KIT.
