Description
Draw and animate a character is a course that will guide you in creating unique characters with style and personality. Throughout the sessions, you will master the complete workflow: from physical or digital illustration, through vectorization, to animation in After Effects and Animate. You will learn how to incorporate secondary and volumetric styles into your animations, exploring techniques that add depth and character to your designs. Additionally, you will be introduced to Animate, an essential tool for efficiently creating simple secondary or volumetric animations.

Session 1: Conceptualization and Sketching of the Mascot
We will explore references and define the mascot's personality. Initial sketches will be designed, and group feedback will be shared.
Session 2: Refinement and Static Design of the Mascot
We will refine the mascot's design to ensure it works as a graphic element. Applications such as logos or stickers will be explored, and live adjustments will be made.
Session 3: Digitalization and Preparation for Animation
We will develop the character's personality and prepare its components for animation.
Session 4: Secondary Animation and Dynamic Details
We’ll introduce Animate: frame-by-frame animation, and add secondary elements like hair, clothing, and extensions.
Session 5: Dynamic Applications and Visual Presentation
We’ll create dynamic graphic applications with the animated mascot (stories, banners) and design simple backgrounds or contexts to complement it.
Session 6: Export and Presentation
Final projects will be exported for different platforms, and the animations will be presented in a group setting, wrapping up the course with feedback.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of design and software such as Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Paper, pencil, scanner/camera to digitize the sketches. Graphics tablet or tablet as an alternative.
