Description

TouchDesigner for Designers is a course designed to introduce designers and creative practitioners to TouchDesigner as a tool within graphic design and motion design workflows. Across six sessions, participants will learn how to navigate the software interface, understand its node-based logic and become familiar with the main operators and image-based workflows used to generate and manipulate visuals. The course introduces concepts such as generative design, procedural animation and visual systems, exploring how these approaches can be integrated into contemporary design processes. While the focus is on learning how to use TouchDesigner, most exercises and tools developed during the course are intended to be applied within graphic design practice, particularly in the context of visual systems and brand identities. Throughout the course, participants will also take part in small weekly challenges designed to practice and explore the possibilities of the software. Each student will develop a personal project or tool using TouchDesigner, applying the concepts learned during the program.

Contents

The course is structured in six sessions combining theoretical introduction, practical demonstrations and the development of a personal project.

The first sessions introduce the TouchDesigner interface, its node-based workflow and the fundamental vocabulary of the software. Participants will explore the TOP operator family and image-based workflows for generating and manipulating visuals.

As the course progresses, concepts related to generative design and procedural animation will be introduced, along with different methodologies for integrating TouchDesigner into motion design and graphic design processes.

Participants will also explore how to build custom tools and visual systems that can be applied to identity design or experimental visual work.

The course includes small weekly challenges aimed at practicing the software by recreating images or visual systems, and concludes with the development of a personal project or tool created with TouchDesigner.

Requirements

To join this course, you will need to have TouchDesigner installed on your computer. No prior experience with the software is required. The course is intended for designers and creative practitioners interested in exploring generative tools within their visual practice. Basic knowledge of graphic design or motion design is recommended, as well as availability to attend the live sessions and complete the proposed exercises.
